A signing off ceremony was held on Jan 7, 2015 to mark the equity deal between JIC Media and Directors & Boards Media. President Zhang Mulun and vice president Guo Yunchao of JIC, and general manager Wu Xiaoping, Asst. general manager She Jiangtao of Jiangsu Phoenix Publishing & Media Corp. were present at the ceremony. JIC Media president, JIC general manager Ke Ke and Jiangsu People’s Publishing House general manager Xu Hai signed the equity purchase agreement on behalf of both sides.

In his speech, Zhang Mulun congratulated the concluding of the agreement, stressing both side have shown wisdom and courage in its 590-day negotiation process to make the deal possible. “Over the past century in the history of Chinese business community, corporate governance has been lagging behind,” said Zhang Mulun, “and the Directors & Boards Magazine has been promoting the concept and best practices of corporate governance among Chinese companies over these years – we share a common ground on this.” According to Zhang, JIC is very optimistic over the magazine’s growth and will help Directors & Boards Media to seize the development opportunities at a sensitive period of transition. He also expected that the magazine would play an active role in the world of investment as well as the media corporate areas through its strategic cooperation with the cultural industry and the investment industry.

Wu Xiaoping reiterated his support on behalf of Phoenix Media for the much needed cooperation between Jiangsu People’s Publishing House and JIC in improving the structure of corporate governance within Directors & Boards Media, and also expressed in looking forward to working closely with JIC at both strategical and tactical levels – starting well from the operation of the Directors & Boards Magazine.

Founded in the year of 2004, the Directors & Boards Magazine is the only magazine that deals specifically with financial and economic management of corporate governance in China. After years of focusing in this area, the magazine is highly recognized for its influence as well as playing a leading role in China’s corporate governance research. The equity deal will be a good beginning as for the respective signing partners to combine their complementary advantages and work together at a much higher level. The signing ceremony marks the first step of JIC, JIC Media, Phoenix Media and Jiangsu People’s Publishing House to deepen their collaborative efforts.
