On September 20, 2016, the JIC Workshop “Home Vision: Living Space for the Future” was held in Beijing. This event featured Kenya Hara, representative of the Nippon Design Center & art director of Muji, as well as opinion leaders on architecture, design, finance and tech & innovation, including famous brands like OWSPACE and HOUSE VISION. During the event, crossover dialogues were presented on design, space and lifestyles of the future.
During his keynote speech, Kenya Hara shared the concept of “Re-design” and his understanding of the relationship between space and lifestyle. He looked into the unique role of design in today’s Chinese society. Kenya Hara also noted that design is a behavior that can be used to identify new issues in daily life. Re-design is about going back to basics, reviewing daily life differently, exploring the meaning of life in a gentle way, and using a minimalist approach for the deconstruction of changes that occur in our lives. With the concept of “home” as the core, an urban cultural space will help to raise awareness about quality of life by showcasing what it’s going to be like to live in future.
Meanwhile, the Workshop also included dialogues like “New Types and Forms of Cultural Space in Future” and “Possibilities of Mobile Lifestyle and Living in Future Cities”. Hua Xue, President of JIC Bookstore, Hao Lei, General Manager Assistant of JIC Holdings, Kenya Hara and the distinguished guests of OWSPACE all participated in the dialogue. During the dialogue “New Types and Forms of Cultural Space in Future”, ideas were shared on operation practices, revenue models and roadmaps for cultural and lifestyle spaces. These were set against the backdrop of buoyance in cultural investments.
